I just want to say that when I look at this thread with 590 views and 4 posts... With 50% of the posts being mine, I figure people think gaming on Linux is s**t, so stick to windows...

Oh boo effing hoo.

Crying about commercial Windows games not running on Linux is akin to crying about PS4 games ...

Yeah, but Ogre is just a graphics engine. I don't think his portal stuff is touching the Ogre code directly.

Most of his code is in lua (i.e. script) so I don't think the virality of the GPL applies to Portalized. Also Ogre3D is LGPL, again allowing distribution with closed source software.

Portalized - open source Portal

I thought I'd bring up this exclusive I have on Free Gamer about a [potentially open source] Portal-inspired game called Portalized.

It has portals that scale (i.e. go through and the world changes size), physics that work through portals, and soon lighting that works through portals. It should be ...

There's plenty of sites that focus on Free Software games.

Mine is Free Gamer. There's also Libregamewiki.

As for games, I would check out Vulture's Claw, Scourge and Lost Labyrinth.

Ubuntu is still Debian on training wheels. All they did was offer a simplified installer and their own repository, really, just like Sabayon did with Gentoo. The difference is that Ubuntu supports their own user base and doesn't tell them to ask Debian for support.
Ubuntu is a lot more than Debian ...

Free Gamer got a facelift!

My open source games blog got a facelift. What do you think?
http://freegamer.blogspot.com/

The next task is to get working hard on restoring the open source games lists (which was the original motivation behind creating the site) so that people can have a reference of where to go to get good open ...

Like I say, I'd be happy to dedicate an entire subforum to this kind of project (that way you can have a thread per game or publisher, for instance). Also a distribution neutral forum would be a good place to direct people to - I mean, if I bring this up on the Ubuntu forums can you imagine many of ...

Interesting although perhaps this is not the best place to do it - the Gentoo community is not as strong as it once was especially relative to other Linux flavours.

Also perhaps it is a bit difficult to organise something as possibly extensive as this in a single thread.

I would happily devote a ...

I think Pingus development will return (I plan for it to happen - since I have a good audience these days I'm going to make an appeal in a bit) so it won't die a portage death.
