I've been trying to setup a VPN connection from my gentoo (which is natted) box to a remote site (VPN SERVER - Fortigate). Without success. This is the schema:

Hello I did the upgrades!!! I have 2 news one bad and one good, the good news is I got dri working as root, not as normal user.

The issue goes like this: I try to log into kde, when the splash screen is still running I got a blank screen, then everything goes dark , imposible to work like this ...

The video card may be an ati but your mainboard chipset is not ;)

Also may be very helpful to include the agpgart main code in the kernel image and not as a module.

What does your kernel say about the initialization of the drm module?

Please post the output of "dmesg | grep drm" and your /Var/log/Xorg.0.log

Did you use the ~x86 version of x11 ...

you mention driver ati
how about changing that to radeon ?
your chip family might help .. if it's anywhere above or equal to r5XX family
i suggest you take a look at radeonhd.

Do you have the "dri" USE flag? Did you enable DRI support in your kernel?

Did you follow the DRI Guide ? Did you remember to build xorg-server with the dri USE flag (if using xorg-server 1.3, the stable version)?

Open source drivers are more stable and act less naughty with other packages
The xf86-video-ati driver is getting features faster than the others.
Lastly xf86-video-radeonhd should (at this point at least imho) be used only if it offers features not included in xf86-video-ati for your graphics ...
