I came across Haskell in the first programming course I was teached at my university. At the very beginning I was very reluctant and thought I was just _pure_ shit; it couldn't be used in industry and my earlier programming experience just wasn't worth anything.

Nevertheless, after plenty of ...

Count new mails on remote server

Is it possible to _just_ count new incoming mails on a remote server? That is, without downloading them to a local machine? I'm using squirrelmail to read my mails at my university, but I would really like torsmo to indicate that I'm having new ones...

Ok. I've ran ethereal and it turned out to be a lot of connections to some ARP protocol that were showing up in torsmo. I don't know anything about networks and suchs but does this just mean that it's my computer that checks back to the dhcp-server or samething similiar? In other words: is this ...

I don't run any services at all. And I've got shorewall proper configured. What other
ways are there to see what the traffic is? I don't have "ethereal".

Thanks for the fast response!

Always downloading...

After installing torsmo and having it update once per second I've noticed that eth0 always stay active downloading 1-2KB/s. What's that all about? Should it be that way ...or worse: Am I being hacked?

Shorewall + metalog

Emerging shorewall worked without perfectly and metalog is already running since earlier (using buffering). But when trying to start shorewall it complains about LOGFILE (/var/log/messages) does not exist! and doesn't start. I've searched around on the forums and on google but not a single soul ...

I just tried to do a 3.4 bootstrap and hit a problem with glibc-2.3.4.20040808 and a .pl file it was trying to run (at least I'm 99% sure that's what the error related to). It was about line 1 not working, which I believe usually points to the interpretter for a script. So I manually emerged perl ...

There's literary a _bunch_ of threads about this. And a lot of people are already using it as their main filesystem. I did as well. Until a couple a weeks ago when I re-bootstrapped my computer and changed the whole shebang to xfs. Just to try it. I had only positive experiences with Reiser4 though ...

Alright, that's what I thought he meant... but It just seemed so bizarre to link some perl environment variable to `echo`. Thanks for helping!

Anyway I solved it by creating a link from echo to 'no' in /usr/bin
Hi! I'm having this problem as well. Can you explain how to do that workaround a little more precise.
