Can't bootstrap with glibc-2.3.4.20040808

It seems that the Makefile in the manual directory does not check for perl availabilty and so it fails (as in bootsrap I don't have perl yet).

Hmm, the place to report stuff like this is http://bugs.gentoo.org, as then it can be fixed more quickly by the developers. As a workaround, I suppose you could try emerging perl manually?

I don't think I can emerge perl before bootstrap.
Anyway I solved it by creating a link from echo to 'no' in /usr/bin

If perl is not installed then $PERL equals to 'no' and make install treis to run the command 'no'.

I'll post a bug report as you suggested.

Hi! I'm having this problem as well. Can you explain how to do that workaround a little more precise.

It seems very clever to me - what I think he's done, from within the chroot, is this:

ln -s echo no

Alright, that's what I thought he meant... but It just seemed so bizarre to link some perl environment variable to `echo`. Thanks for helping!
