Seems to have worked

I tried LILO and it worked

So LiLo worked like a charm the first time but then I got that red box with my two options in a blam! contrast white...in other words I miss the colorful screen and smoothness of GRUB...I will try that out. Thanks

distcc gig ethernet and jumbo frames

Anyone thought about using jumbo frames over a gig network. I was thinking maybe distcc could take advantage of this...I am wondering though if it is nic dependent....Just a random thought.

ALSA and Extigy

Anyone get the extigy working with ALSA support. I am having the problem of very little gain...I can turn the gain on my Klipsch up almost 80% and the volume is not loud. I tried for a couple of days on and off to get alsa support working but no luck. Any ideas...Thanks

I figured it out

So I found the cgi scripts and go them setup...I just asked before searching around :oops:

Thanks for that quick response...I did a little test with my Back-UPS 500 ie 500VA(volt amps)

I unplugged it from the wall and is started beeping...it said I had about 11 minutes of run time and the load ...

Got it my ES 500 APC working

So I had to compile usb support directly into the kernel to get the APC to work. I am using a 2.6 kernel...the guide is for 2.4 if I am not mistaken. So my question is anyone get the web application to work so that you can log into the web and check on the status??? Thanks El

I fixed it...

So I had posted my prob on another post along with my make opts. In my make opts I had -fstack-protector I removed it and tried to reemerge xorg. Ahhhhhhh it worked perfectly. Also when I was trying to do a stage one install I had included -O3 in my make opts which was also crashing the build ...

You can run the monitor on the pc that you begin the emerge on ie the computer you are actually installing the software on. VSFTPD seems to use DISTCC consistently. So I would emerge it see if I see any activity and then unmerge it to test distcc with. Also as a sanity check I run netstat -c -A inet ...

I got it to work

In my CFLAGS I had fstack-protector removed that and rememerged XORG-X11 and it works. I still had to use xorgconfig b/c X -configure gave me some new errors. But after setting up a generic xorg.conf I was able to start x and I now have gnome all setup... Hope this maybe helps

So using the above hint on executing distcc-gnome worked for me...also if you check in /var/tmp/portage/.distcc there should be two directories state and lock. When it wasnt working for me on one of my boxes I noticed that lock was missing so I unemerged it and rememerged it and it ran just fine ...

It worked on my local network

These steps from above worked 1st try on my local network

ssh-keygen -t dsa

It worked

So that worked like a charm...but any idea why it might not be working otherwise. I havent been able to get X to run yet on my box so I am thinking that it may have something to do with that...thanks I will keep you up to date
