I'm calling it directly. Not going to add it to runlevels until it's actually working. ("wg-quick up wg1")

This is the file downloaded directly from Proton. (It was the least "in-use" canadian server as of some time this morning)

Tried commenting out the DNS line, pinged 1.1.1.1, still 100% packet ...

Wireguard initial config

I'm trying to set up Wireguard with ProtonFreeVPN, and it's generally not working.

I'm not sure where to go to even start with debugging, so I'm asking for help.

wg1.conf (renamed because otherwise wg-quick complains about naming):

I wouldn't be surprised if the "have to unmerge" people are the ones who only update every 3-6(-12) months, given that (this was a 300+ days update for me). I know I've been one of them and I always seem to have something that portage can't handle.

Unmerging big userspace applications *feels* safe ...

How did you try "forcing the multilib flags"?
I tried sticking USE="ABI_X86_x32 ABI_X86_32 ABI_X86_64" emerge ... at the start of the emerge command.
Unmerging is never the right answer for this.
It's the only thing I've found to be reliable and simple for solving blockages during updates. What ...

Solved.

Enabling "pic" USE flag for xvid made it work.

Does xvid use pic the other way around to everything else?

Didn't change anything, just restarted steam and it refuses to boot.

Tried everything I could find on the internet, nothing seems to work.

Currently in the middle of a full system update, just in case that helps.

Raid is not a substitute for backups. You may need to restore your raid set from backup if recalculating the redundant data fails.

See my signature before its too late.

Not even RAID 1? Guess I'm sticking with rsync on cron then.

And your signiture is exactly why I'm trying to figure out how ...

MATE scaling just went haywire

I logged into my desktop this morning, and some scaling factor has been messed up, because my menu bar text and application headers have become tiny, as has the text in Chome and Firefox (but not Seamonkey). And the file view has become massive.

I haven't been playing with settings.

Any ideas what ...

A true backup will allow you to go back in time and retrieve data.

This is a thing I'm not concerned with.

The key thing I'm after is redundancy in case of drive failure.

Secondary things are ease of getting back on my feet after a drive failure.

This is an 8TB drive, so anything using the ...

Backup/RAID options?

I just had a hdd-failure scare, so I'm here to ask for advice on how to do data backups/redundancy.

What is the current best way to turn one hdd of irreplaceable data into two interchangable hdds of that data, and have that state be maintained as that data changes without me having to take explicit ...

libdrm keeps wanting extra video cards? [SOLVED]

I'm doing a clean install on new hardware, and I'm at the point of installing desktop applications, some of which need gtk+.

Which needs libdrm.

Which keeps wanting USE flags for a bunch of graphics cards that I don't have. Sometimes it asks for what looks like every graphics card USE flag.

How ...

Pluma on MATE crashes on CTRL shortcuts [FIXED-UPSTREAM?]

This has been happening since my last update.

Whenever I use a shortcut for copy, paste, save, etc... Pluma just crashes with a "buffer overflow detected" error message, instantly.

I had a look around the internet, and this error apparently got fixed last summer?

As I use pluma as my primary ...

Yep, ALT+ESC cycles windows, highlighting the window instead of bringing up a little pop-up the way ALT+TAB does.

Does this mean you have a setting to make the CTRL+ALT+<arrow> pop-up show on all screens?

nope, it always focus the mouse or primary monitor.

MATE desktop switcher pop-up all displays

I checked Google and there's surprisingly nothing on this (or my google-fu failed spectacularly)

How do I make the MATE desktop switcher popup (the thing that shows up in the middle of the active screen) show on all monitors, instead of just the one with the cursor?
