that client has been 'in development' for years.

I used to play WoW and vent on the same user using wine for a long while with no issues, other than needing to un-check the 'use direct input for hotkeys' box.

Well, I downgraded to 0.9.13 and it works a little better than 0.9.14 which worked better than 0.9.15 (which didn't start at all), still flickery (even on the login screen) but not the whole screen, just part of it.

Console output for anyone interested, though I imagine it's pretty standard

I cannot. since I have to use OSS in wine with Vent, it hogs the sound device.

Hello all.
A long while ago, I had gentoo up and running on this system 3200+ amd64 on a nforce4 mb.
I believe I had somewhere around 2.6.12 or so kernel, and everything was peachy. I had to completly erase my harddrives and repartition everything due to some bad space allocation (my own fault)

There is however one thing that troubles me. From time to time, the game starts to lag heavily - after 2+ hours playing it just drops framerate and behaves as if played on a riva tnt.

I'm not sure, but it looks like a similar behaviour that I experience every now and then, as described in my ...

I'm sure daemons like cpudyn are usefull, but you are correct--they are not required. I load the cpufreq_conservative module at startup and have the following line in /etc/conf.d/local.start echo conservative > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor This definitely scales my ...
