My problem has always been that whatever shape the pointer is in when it goes across the divide from the primary monitor to the secondary, it stays that way on the secondary. So if its an arrow, it stays an arrow no matter what. if its a crosshair, it stays a crosshair. Does that work with 8.40?
It was fixed for one version of the binary ati driver but in the latest one in ubuntu, the same bug is back. i guess we just wait for ati to fix it for real
Has anyone gotten the piped output to update-world to work? Ever time I try I get this
# emerge -puD | update-world No arguments supplied. If you're piping from the emerge command (emerge -p <package> | update-world), this is fine. Otherwise, cancel and type 'update-world --help' for usage ...
First surprise: there's no way I can configure Xscreensavers from within gnome (I don't even have the corresponding menu item, not even when I login to gdm as root).
gnome doesn't use xscreensaver anymore. Try gnome-screensaver. Its a gtk version. After that, check out the main menu->System ...
I had to do what was in this openoffice forum thread to install the English libraries. and now spellchecking and autocomplete works. Seems like a bug in the ebuild to me.
I upgraded to openoffice 2.2. Now I can't get spell checking working, either explicit or the red underline thingy. I found a blog post that said that in 2.2 you have to set the language by running File->Wizards->Install New Dictionaries but when I run that, nothing happens. It just sits there and ...
This is exactly my point. The number of environment variables/process/virgin sacrifices that are required to get all this stuff to work passed my tolerance for keep up with. I started letting gdm sacrifice whatever it wants and everything has been swell. gdm can be used to start kde and any other ...
I solved this, and MANY other weirdo problems dealing with application communication by giving up on my meticulously crafted xinit and xsession files and startx and finally just went with gdm to start my desktop. It takes care of a lot of dbus session initiation and other magical things that make ...
I think the addition of revdep-rebuild now makes this the single best gentoo script ever. This script alone increases stability and ease of frequent or infrequent updates enormously. Thanks a lot.
Feature request: Can you add a "-a" like flag that does what emerge -a does, where it shows you what ...
Given your description I would suggest buying more nvidia products
I have ATI in my work laptop but would never buy an ATI card for personal use for exactly this type of reason.
I've had nothing but good experiences with nvidia and nothing but crap from ati. meh

I got hydrogen to build successfully and it starts, but I get no outputs to show up in jack. I have other apps (rosegarden/ardour) working correctly so jack is working.
There are no audio in or out connectors for hydrogen in the qjackctl connection panel. In fact, the only thing hydrogen puts in ...

That's how it's supposed to work--it lets you know there is a fetch restriction so you can download the file before proceeding. Did you download the file and put it in your disfiles directory? If you did and it still gives the warning, then there's a problem.
