Don't you love old topics :)

I had read something a while back about installing MacOS onto a PC native, rather than using virtualisation. Might be worth a google.

As far as PearPC goes, I haven't played with it in a long time.

I use ISPConfig under Mandriva, works great.

I wish it supported Gentoo out-of-the-box though.

I've used it under Mandriva and it worked really well.

It doesn't fit with the way Gentoo does things but it is a good piece of software.

It all comes back to me now.

The problem is in the windows XP setup. For some reason on xp you must go to "add/remove programs" in the control panel and on the left will be a button for Windows components. Click on it and under "other network file and print services" you will find "print services ...

I have a similar issue. It was all working but something (an update?) broke it.

I can connect via smbclient, but I get:

This driver works for me, but I always hear a crackling sound in the background (with mplayer).VLC doesn't produce any sound. This is only in gentoo, on windows this works fine. I hope the next driver will solve this problem.
When booting I get an error and I would like to uninstall this driver ...

[SOLVED] gcalctool-5.9.14-r1 fails with scrollkeeper error

Gcalctool fails to compile...

I think I'm alone here as I haven't found anyone with the same issue. I've re-merged scrollkeeper and XML-Parse to no avail. Any thoughts anyone? :)

rsync re-syncs already synced files

I'm using rsync to sync two ntfs partitions (source is ro, dest is rw).

It works, however it syncs some files on every sync, despite them already existing on the dest.

They both have the same md5sum, so they're the same. So, why does it do this? What am I missing? :-)

Thanks for the reply. I still want to mount removable volumes (such as USB sticks) just not static ones (like my Windows partition).

I traced the problem back to HAL and fixed it by creating a new file /etc/hal/fdi/policy/90-user-methods.fdi and adding the following:
