Making Gentoo ready for commercial use (virt. mailhosting..)

Hello!

I have set-up an internet server with Gentoo. Setting up apache, mysql, etc. is no big deal also when working with more than two domains.

For setting the email server up, I followed the virtual mailhosting guide in the Gentoo documentation http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/virt-mail-howto.xml and everything is working quite nice.

Now I was asking myself if it is somehow possible to make the setup more comfortable!? Actually I have to enter phpmyadmin every time I want to change something with the emails and I have to modify the main.cf of postfix. Also for apache I have to enter the configuration files and make all the changes there.

Now my question is, if there is some way to make all the things more comfortable for me as sysadmin as well as for the customers (e.g. that they can change themselves email preferences, passwords, add subdomains to apache, ...).

I am also quite curious if it isn't a bit risky to store the passwords for email accounts in the mysql database in plaintext!?

Thank you for your answers and ideas. It is a pity that the SysCP guide is messed up so it's not useful for someone like me whose first internet server is this. :-)

I use ISPConfig under Mandriva, works great.

I wish it supported Gentoo out-of-the-box though.
