I am unable to compile pearpc, has anyone tried it recently? I've tried both linux-headers 2.6.17 and 2.6.23 (BasiliskII and SheepShaver won't compile with the latter, from my experience). I am in great need for a ppc emulator, work reasons. I am running gentoo-sources-2.6.24-r3.

Code: Select all

 * Could not find a usable .config in the kernel source directory.
 * Please ensure that /usr/src/linux points to a configured set of Linux sources.
 * If you are using KBUILD_OUTPUT, please set the environment var so that
 * it points to the necessary object directory so that it might find .config.

Don't you love old topics :)

I had read something a while back about installing MacOS onto a PC native, rather than using virtualisation. Might be worth a google.

As far as PearPC goes, I haven't played with it in a long time.

Split from a topic that hasn't been replied to in 4 years, and moved from Off the Wall to Other Things Gentoo.

I need to run PowerPC apps, so OSX for PC is out. I need OS 9, which does not run natively on PCs. One of the catches is, I need to open files that will get damaged if they're transported through other than HFS filesystems without binhexing it

Have you configured the kernel in /usr/src/linux?

Tried SheepShaver at all?
You'll need a ROM image to run it, but I don't think that should be too hard to get if you have the Mac machine.

SheepShaver and PearPC do different things. SheepShaver will emulate older machines and run MacOS Classic, PearPC is the only emulator which can run MacOS X.
