I'm not sure you need this ugly piece of hack any more, I use the same SK-8135 but at least the multimedia keys works without this piece of crap when I use KDE4.

When you start X the start-up messages and also error messages end up in the file ~/.xsession-errors
This file might tell you what doesn't work with your X setup.

Don't you have kde-misc/knetworkmanager in your portage tree? That package is for kde 3.5, he was asking for the NetworkManager plasmoid.
