[Solved!] libical & kdepimlibs Fails Emerge

Post by Vorlon » Thu Apr 17, 2014 9:59 pm

I've been trying to upgrade my ~AMD64 system, but emerge fails on both libical and kdepimlibs.

I'm a little too obtuse to be able to understand the most relevant failure messages. Here they are:

libical-1.0-r1:

Here is kdepimlibs-4.13.0:

It looks like libical can't find the ical links, and I can't figure out what kdepimlibs is looking for (unless its libical).

I tried the fix mentioned elsewhere in the forums ("unset path") to no effect.

I've also tried the commands "env-update", "source /etc/profile", & "revdep-rebuild" without any success.

Anybody got any suggestions of things to try?

TIA!

kdepimlibs wont compile for me too.
It fails everytime it it works on libsyndication.

Code: Select all

.so /usr/lib64/libkdeui.so.5.12.4 /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtSvg.so /usr/lib64/libkdecore.so.5.12.4 /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtDBus.so /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so -lpthread -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib64/qt4:
cd /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.12.4/work/kdepimlibs-4.12.4_build/syndication && /usr/bin/cmake -E cmake_symlink_library ../lib/libsyndication.so.4.12.4 ../lib/libsyndication.so.4 ../lib/libsyndication.so
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.12.4/work/kdepimlibs-4.12.4_build'
/usr/bin/cmake -E cmake_progress_report /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.12.4/work/kdepimlibs-4.12.4_build/CMakeFiles 79 80 81 82 83

make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.12.4/work/kdepimlibs-4.12.4_build'
make: *** [all] Error 2
 * ERROR: kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.12.4::gentoo failed (compile phase):

I tied to update to Kde 4.13.0 but it fails too.
Any hints?

Thanks Frank

I got dev-libs/libical-1.0-r1 to compile with USE="-introspection" (after it worked, added it to my package.use)

Not sure if that'll fix your problem, but that's what worked for me.

USE="-introspection" is set for me but it doesn't work.

I solved it!

libical emerged properly when I disabled the "introspection" use flag, as mentioned by Unabeefer. (I didn't set it to negative, I just deleted any reference to it all.)

kdepimlibs emerged properly when I disabled the "static-libs" use flag.

I'm not sure now why I ever had either of these flags set, but removing them entirely allowed everything to compile.

Now I'm completely confused. There is no "static-libs" flag for kdepimlibs. Or have you disabled it for the whole system?
PS: Okay I disabled the global use flag static-libs and enabled it only for the ebuilds where it's needed.

I changed it for the whole system and did a complete system upgrade "emerge --deep --newuse -u world". This caused about a dozen or so packages to rebuild and then compiled kdepimlibs successfully.

The same way worked for me. Thanks for the hint.
