I am having a problem on a system that when upgrading to Grub2 from grub.
I am upgrading to Grub2.
My problem occurs when I implementing the chainloading portion.
Sequence:
reboot
get original grub menu
select GRUB2 Chainload
get Grub2 menu
select to gnu/linux
screen clears, shows loading <my kernel>...
Then, apparently nothing happens. At first I thought that the system was frozen. Eventually, I realized I could ssh into it, and everything works normally.
Now, the way I have my system at the moment is that I log in as root, then execute kdm to launch the kde environment. Typing blindly, I am able to log in successfully and launch kde as well. Once kde is launched, everything becomes normal and the video works just fine.
So, it is apparent that video has become a problem with Grub2. I am using nvidia. I don't care about resolution in console mode, just something where I can see the boot up process and do simple things if I need to.
Any suggestions? Thanks very much.
