samba and being refused.

Hello, first off, I had samba working before. I havent really changed much except recompiling kernel and isntalling a router. Now when i try and start samba i get

lpstat: Unable to connect to server: Connection refused

Im just wondering if port 901 or something needs to be forwarded or what else could be wrong with why its not working now. thanks
