[SOLVED] Kaddressbook does not show content

  • Quote

Post by philip » Sun Apr 08, 2012 12:45 pm

I have just migrated to Kmail2 with a lot of hazzle. I finally seem to get most things working, except contacts in the KAddressBook). KaddresBook refuses to show my contatcs.

I backed my contact up, before migrating to KMail2.

I then make an attempt to import my contacts from the KAddressBook File menu:

File--> Import-->Import vCard

I brows to the folder where by backup is and choose std.vcf. The import seems to go well (the import progress shows and there is no complaint).
But my contacts do not show in KAddressbooks. The panes are just blank.

Has anyone had similar problems and solved it?

I had a similar problem and I am embarrassed to say that the
cause was I hadn't checked the addressbook in the leftmost
pane of the kaddressbook window (I guess if there is more
than one you can choose ...) :)
.... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth
doing as simply messing about with Linux ...

I have nothing to choose from in the leftmost pane (the one with the heading "Name"). It is empty :(

I have nothing to choose from in the leftmost pane (the one with the heading "Name"). It is empty
the leftmost pane should be (is for me) labelled "Address Books"

can you click and hold on the leftmost border and drag it to the right thus
opening the "Address Books" pane?

Thanks!!

That did it!

How should one know that the pane was "hidden"?

KDE is so intuitive and perfectly designed you just know things like
that effortlessly ... NOT :)

albright, you are a genius.

You have fixed numerous Kmail2 bugs in 1 fell-swoop. Many many thanks from me too.

Dave.
