Adobe Flash - no playback, just black screen

I can't get flash playback at all, on a site (like the daily show website) I'll see a spinning icon briefly then nothing except a black window/screen. This happens for all the browsers I've tried (opera, chomre, chromium) it still happens with all the versions of flash I've tried. The versions I've tried so far are:

Anyone have any ideas? I would appreciate any help.

This recently happened to me for lots of youtube videos, the issue is now gone. Seemed that waiting for a about a minute or two often loaded the video. Upgrading flash and opera might have helped, but i am not sure. I use 10.3.183.10 on amd64-hardened-multilib profile.
On other pages, when i get a complete black player window without controls or the spinning "buffering" icon, i needed to enable javascript. Flash simply sucks and deserves to die the same death Realplayer died!
