Yet another pykde4-4.5.1-r1 problem

I must say all these pykde4 problems are getting very frustrating, both in the overlay, and now in portage. I've dealt with several boxes having similar problems, and the patch discussed on the other recent threads fixed it. However, supposedly pykde4 was fixed, but now I get this, preventing PyQt4 and a few others from compiling, thus preventing finishing up my main box update to kde-4.5.1. I've done other boxes successfully, and tried/looked at the fixes I used before, except trying to apply the original patch fix to the new 4.5.1-r1 portage ebuild, which if I understand correctly was addressed in the new ebuild, apparently with a different patch? Not sure on that.

Googled for "sipQtGuiQMatrix2x3.cpp:158:18: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault" and that led me to a gcc bugzilla page mentioning -fgraphite-identity, which eventually reminded me of the Gentoo forum thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-8 ... t-125.html and towards the bottom of page 6 a post by PuckPoltergeist mentions "Yes it is CFLAGS-related. -fgraphite-identity is the one that causes the segfault."

I removed -fgraphite-identity, and PyQt4 then compiled OK. Then I was able to replace -fgraphite-identity back, and pykde4-4.5.1-r1 then compiled OK.

Think I'll emove the graphite USE flag and 4 cflags until gcc-4.6.0 is released.

Anyone know if I'll need a full world rebuild, or just what's pulled in by emerge -DN @world? If this works out for finishing up kde, guess I'll mark this as "solved."

I emerged the other updates first (including some python stuff), and afterwards the build went through. There are probably a few dependencies missing.

Well, I'm screwed. I have emerged everything in kde-meta that doesn't depend on kde-base/pykde4-4.5.1-r1 and pykde won't compile.

I need some more suggestions, or a version of pykde that compiles...

The pykde4-4.5.1-r1 ebuild says it is currently not "stable" Arch, only ~Arch (KEYWORDS="~amd64 ~arm ~ppc ~ppc64 ~x86 ~amd64-linux ~x86-linux"), so this might be causing a problem. Also, perhaps using gcc-4.3.x and trying to build ~amd64 kde-4.5.1 against it and the stable toolchain might be problematic. I only run ~amd64 and ~x86 gentoo systems, so I might be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure most users running kde-4.5.1 are also running ~Arch systems, at least that was the case. Sometimes trying to install ~Arch packages on otherwise pure "stable" systems is tough, because you would need to unmask/keyword the packages and possibly all deps, and even then you could still have difficulties.

Has anyone running pure stable Gentoo successfully installed kde-4.5.1? That would invalidate my above theory.

I found on my systems the PyQt4 problem with -fgraphite-identity cflag was also preventing pykde4-4.5.1-r1 from compiling, as mentioned before.

Have you successfully compiled PyQt4? Have you done a revdep-rebuild?

Just popping in to say I can't compile pykde4-4.5.1-r1 on ~amd64 with gcc-4.4.4-r2 without graphite USE. Everything else on the system has been updated and revdep-rebuild'd before trying to compile pykde4. The end of the error follows, in case anyone wants to compare it.

Sorry- I wasn't exactly clear on what has worked for me (with gcc-4.5.1).

So FWIW, on both ~x86 and ~amd64 systems (installed on different partitioins on same box), all kde-4.5.1 (except PyQt4) compiles with USE="graphite" and these cflags:

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ftracer -fno-ident -ftree-vectorize -frename-registers -floop-interchange -floop-strip-mine -floop-block -fgraphite-identity"

On the pure amd64, I just changed the march=athlon-xp to march=k8, as this box has an amd X2 64bit cpu. I kept the march=athlon-xp on the ~x86 as it was an old install I wanted to keep when i upgraded the cpu/motherboard from a socket A/athlonXP to an amd64 cpu/motherboard, and wanted to keep that Gentoo installation pure 32bit, no multilib.

Anyway, all that x86/amd64 stuff apparently has nothing to do with the PyQt4/pykde4 issue.

To clarify: The only change I had to make in USE or cflags was for PyQt4, and that was to remove only the -fgraphite-identity cflag, leaving all the others (and USE=graphite) the same. I then could compile PyQt4, thus allowing me to also compile pykde4 and finish up my kde-4.5.1 installs. Apparently, on my systems the -fgraphite-identity flag only affects PyQt4. All my other kde-4.5.1 packages and deps are compiled with it.

I did a revdep-rebuild, and a python-updater and sorted out all of my problems there. I struggled with libpng12.so.0 and think I sorted that out. I tried the "graphite USE" on PyQt4 pykde4. It is still failing. Looks to be in the link.

I had an issue with that package stopping on KDEUI.so, my cause was due to having dev-python/PyQt4-4.7.7 installed, there is a bug open [bug=338328]about this[/bug], just roll back to PyQt4-4.7.5 for now and it should compile just fine.

Do those having to go back to PyQt4-4.7.5 have -fgraphite-identity cflag enabled? If so, that would indicate that only 4.7.7 has a problem with that flag.
