gnome icons missing

After switching from KDE to Gnome, I noticed, that some icons were missing. In gnome menu, k3b icon is missing. I checked, k3b.desktop contains Icon=k3b and the file does exists. In panel, there is a blank space, where kmess icon should be. Again, the icon file definitely exists. All other icons are displayed correctly.

Do I have to somehow modify the icon directory paths or something like that? I am quite new in Gnome environment.

I'm a KDE user, so this might not help, but does changing themes have any effect? You might also try creating a brand new user, just to be sure something hasn't gotten messed up in your own configuration files.

I tried it and unfortunately it didn't work.

I am actually beginning to think, that it may be application specific, as now I have only one problematic program. The other one's icon just "appeared" at some moment. I really don't have an idea how, but it did. On the other hand, almost all visual details of kmess are missing, so I will better ask about it in kmess forum, as I'm quite sure it has nothing to do with a desktop environment anymore
I guess this topic is closed.
