rhythmbox failing to start -- FIXED!

It fails with this output:

(rhythmbox:855): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: invoking IsSupported() failed for remote volume monitor with dbus name org.gtk.Private.GduVolumeMonitor: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildSignaled: Process /usr/libexec/gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor received signal 11

This is an ~amd64 system. Any ideas? Thanks,

I had an error like this a few months back, but I don't remember how it got fixed or if it was rhythmbox doing the complaining. You might find the comment for this bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/292587 helpful.

After reverting back to gvfs-1.2.3 (from gvfs-1.4.3), I have the same problem as just above, rhythmbox dies with no sign of the problem. I added some plugins directories to get rid of the only errors that debug print was showing. This is the case with either stable or unstable version of rhythmbox.

In response to the last two suggestions:

I tried downgrading to python-2.6.5-r1 yesterday, and that didn't solve the problem for me.

I don't have anything on my system called netcelli, on my computer. I have tried running rhythmbox as root although I can't recall if that was done when I had reverted python back to 2.6.5-r1.

Well then, IMO, nothing can be done. Let the devs know, report a bug.

Emerge sys-devel/gdb

Then compile rhythmbox with FEATURES=”nostrip” in make.conf and add -ggdb flag to your CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS.

Also (if any) declare a use flag called “debug” while emerging rhythmbox.

gdb --args rhythmbox

You'll enter gdb prompt

Type run, the output is the debug one, preserve it.

The run backtrace, and then quit.

Post the output of backtrace and run in the bug report and remove remove all the modifications to make.conf.
