root@rush gentoo-wallpapers # emerge karamba
Calculating dependencies
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "karamba" have been masked.

!!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct.
I have also tried to install it manually, no luck

can anyone help to shed some light on this for me please?[/quote]

sounds like karamba may be masked as "experimental"
see if the following helps out

Code: Select all

root# nano -w /etc/make.conf
add the line:

Code: Select all

 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86"

Code: Select all

root# env-update
root# emerge karamba

If karamba is masked (I'm not on Gentoo right now so I can't check) you have to add ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" (I'm guessing that's what was trying to say ;)) before emerging. It's a bad idea to put it in make.conf because it will tell portage that merging masked (= possibly unstable) is okay.

Try doing:

Code: Select all

# ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge karamba
warning: `class GroveImpl' only defines a private destructor and has no friends.

BTW, just a friendly warning, you might want to emerge superkaramba, not just karamba.

As far as I know, SuperKaramba can use most Karamba themes.

SK is a great eyecandy program... I'm not sure I could give up windows so easily if I didn't have it...
