cx88-dvb module not loading [SOLVED]

Okay, in advance, i'm going to apologize for what will probably end up being a ridiculously long post. I've tried everything i can think of, and i'm hoping someone here will know where i've gone wrong...

I've set up a gentoo system correctly, using proper drivers which is connected into a 32" Sony Bravia LCD screen.

The entire system works, except for MythTV. After some 3 weeks of screwing around i've found a few issues which i can't seem to resolve.

- MythBackend starts correctly, but when i run mythfrontend i get 'cannot connect to socket'. This is probably not related to the backend (as i have modified /etc/mysql/my.cnf and also mysql.txt to remove the localhost and replaced with a real IP).

In my kernel i've compiled module support for cx8800 and i've compiled in support for v4l, giving me a device under /dev/v4l/video0 and /dev/v4l/vbi0.

'modprobe cx8800 card=51' works but when i run 'modprobe cx88-dvb' i get FATAL: Error inserting cx88_dvb (/lib/modules/2.6.27-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx88/cx88-dvb.ko): No such device. The module does exist under the directory, but doesn't load, and apparently is required for the second tuner.

- MythTV displays 4 tuners(?). Under 'capture cards' in the mythtv-setup program, i have V4L: /dev/v4l/video0
However under input connections i have '[V4L: /dev/v4l/video0 ] (composite 1) -> None' through to composite 4.

- MythTV will not allow me to scan for channels. When i head to 'channel editor' i get a screen with (new channel) at the top and Channel Scanner (as well as icon download) greyed out at the bottom. This is why i suspect that the Tuner is playing up, not necessarily MythTV itself.

The rest of the system functions beautifully; fwiw the connection to the tv is a HDMI cable. I don't know if that makes any difference (i suspect not seeing as the video card / sound functions fine through it), so i'm just throwing it out there...

I think thats all i can really add. hopefully someone here will be able to give me a hand.

i have a leadtek card, but not that one. are you sure it uses cx88 and not bttv?

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Leadtek_DTV-2000H says the cx88-dvb module, but i can't get it to load.

I might try the bttv module anyway, it can't hurt, especially since its currently doing nothing =/

took quite some time but i've figured it out (like 30 seconds ago :/).

the problem was that when it was detected, it was loading what i'll call the 'wrong' modules. They were correct in a sense, but they were blocking the detection of the actual card to cx88-dvb.

might make more sense to post this; quick and dirty hack around it:

fwiw, cx8802 reloads, but the others do not. I placed this in my /etc/conf.d/local.start folder and so cx88-dvb loads on boot!
