ivman-0.6.14 not mounting CD/DVD

I've been trying to get ivman to mount my DVD's automatically, but it doesn't seem to want to mount them. If I restart ivman, it finds all the devices, and mounts them to /media correctly, but if ivman is already running when I put in a DVD or USB stick, it just ignores them.

My configuration files are unmodified, and I am running from /etc/init.d/ivman. I have tried running as a user other than root, and it does not seem to make any difference. I have tried running both at the same time, as some sites have suggested, and it still will not mount anything.

Any help would be appreciated. I am running the latest ~amd64 system with fluxbox.

A few others are having problems with ivman. I don't think it works with the current version of hal. There is an alternative called halevt. More details are in this thread:
