Kernel not recognizing your hardware? Problems with power management or PCMCIA? What hardware is compatible with Gentoo? See here. (Only for kernels supported by Gentoo.)
My Marvell IDE hardware is awesomely nonworking, therefore I would like someone to recommend sata dvd-rw, which is able to run on gentoo, various livecd-s and makes life as little painful as possible!
I think the main problem with SATA dvd drives and live CD's is down to the motherboard controller.
I'm using a Samsung SH-S203D, everything works as if it were IDE but I thank my trusty bad axe 2 for that . If you're not reading at full speed it's quite quiet too

Sure, just now I have too much of respect towards new hardware... Who knows, what can bit me!
I assume, mostly those sata optical drives will work, if hard ones do, but if there is something I should avoid for good, please let me know!
