I've always wanted to be able to play my PS2 outside of the main room where it is currently held, but I have no spare monitors to set up, but, only a laptop that runs Gentoo.
I've found: Avermedia AverTV Hybrid+FM / TV Tuner PCMCIA Cardbus ( http://www.avermedia.com/cgi-bin/produc ... dbus.asp#2 ) which seems to be linux-compatible.
The only question I have is, if I decide to plug in my PS2, would it properly output sound and video (s-video) to my laptop monitor, or would there be something else I would need to get?
I am also curious how it works, if anyone has used this card before. Does it just open up a new window for you to watch the signal? Does it take over full-screen? How powerful of a machine would you need to run it? Does it use the graphics card on the laptop, at all?
PS: I'm running Gentoo on a Thinkpad T30, 2.0ghz, 512 ram, 16mb Radeon 7500 Mobility.
If anyone does have advice on something else I should buy, that would get the job done well, I'm open to suggestions. This was the only card I found available, that had S-Video Support, and was PCMCIA. (I won't go USB, because I've only got USB1.0 on this laptop)
