GDM crashes when clicking on a users face

Hey there,

I want to configure my tablet pc in a way, so that I won't need the keyboard for booting up.
That includes using the gdm face browser and a fingerprint reader.

The fingerprint reader works perfect. I can login by typing in my user name and scanning my fingerprint.
(I know about the security issues, dont tell me !)

But when it comes to gdm face browser, there's a big problem.
When I click on my users face, gdm just crashes with no errors or nothing in the log files.
Doest anybody have a clue how to fix this ?

I am using a amd64 architecture with gdm-2.20.6 (latest unstable) and tried these themes:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ ... tent=57855
and
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=37395

Any kind of help is appreciated !

Thanks so far.

  1. What happen with no theme at all or the default one?
  2. Have you tried to recompile enabling debug?

Not using a theme doesn't change anything. GDM still crashes when clicking on the user.

And yes, GDM is compiled with the USE-flag debug turned on !

Can you post the debug output then? and emerge --info (supposing there was no change since the last GDM install...)
By the way, are you sure that the GDM time out and Xgl/Xorg as default graphics server were settled correctly?
Have you... checked out the input methods for Gnome ~ GDM?
A little glimpse at your GDM config would help a lot.
