EvE Online Black Ship/Textures Bug

  • Quote

Post by NagaDrag » Sat Apr 19, 2008 1:26 pm

I've just decided to sit down and play EvE, using the 'native' linux client, provided by CCP. However, as the cedega engine updated to the latest, I started seeing alot of graphical bugs, after about 10 minutes of ingame activity, or non-activity.

The ship at first turns almost fully black (I take it , it's the reflective parts that turn black, but not sure)
The jump gates, and other ships turn black in the same way, and it's just an ugly thing to look at, not to mention, spot.

I've tried turning the Cedega setup of EvE from using GLSL and PS + VS 3.0, to 2.0 and even 1.4, as well as 1.0, and turning GLSL off completely, nothing helped

Images: (Sorry about the poorness, as the print screen button [only way to take these screenshots] leaves some artifacts, such as grey rectangles)

There were no problems running the previous engine of cedega's EvE port (000082 i think it was) which I've switched back to for the moment, seeing as 00087 breaks EvE

have you tried the normal windows client running under wine? It runs quite nicely for me and seems to be the preferred way of running eve in linux for quite a few people as the cedega wrapper isnt that good.
The only thing i had to do to get it working nicely is turn down shadows, everything else runs nicely for me at max settings and 1920x1200 :)
Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved.
