Trying out Half Life 2 on the new machine, I can get STEAM to start up, and go as far as starting the game, but once the little dialogue with "launching <game>" disappears, nothing happens.
CPU is not used, Memory is not used, and I can repeat the action of starting the same game over and over without any errors (in this case HL2/Ep1/Ep2/Portal)
I get the same problem with wine and cedega 6.0.5, and haven't been able to get around it.
What I have tried:
Different Cedega and Wine settings (With and Without GLSL) (all the way down from the latest version of cedega, till about 4.2)
Using taskset -c 1 (as the machine is has a dual core processor)
Starting the game directly (still logging on to steam, but not to the actual GUI) [ cedega / wine steam.exe -appset 220 <other options>]
I dunno what else to do. Could it be the fact that I copied over my whole Wine directory, and Cedega Directory (.wine / .cedega) with steam in it, and it's not digesting it?
PS: Although the system uses 64bit processors, it is running in a 32bit environment
PSS: Not sure if this is relavent, but the machine is connected to a flatscreen HDTV (which runs at resolution 1280x768), and I've gotten all the resolutions in Xorg writted from 1280x768 to 1024x768 and lower
