[GIMP] nie otwiera plików

Podczas gdy chcę otworzyć jakiś plik w gimpie, wyskakuje mi komunikat

Nie można otworzyć pliku "/home/adam/Desktop/Gallery/img_6230.jpg": Nieznany typ pliku

W przeglądarce zapisywałem te pliki w róznych formatach, zmieniałem wielkości liter rozszerzeń. Ale GIMP dalej nie chce mi ich otworzyć Co jest?!
