well counterstrike works excellently through wine

warcraft 3 toc/ft
starcraft
baldurs gate 2

also play very well under wine

if you are talking about native games there are several: http://games.linux.sk/ (quick google popped this up)

newer commercial games you may have some luck with running through wine/cedega--however imo the best for those would be to dual boot and just run those on m$ while doing everything else on linux :)

what types of games are you looking for exactly?

btw: just pulled these up as well

fps ebuilds in portage
http://pebuilds.peschke.us/games-fps

Quake Wars only has demo in portage but there is an ebuild on Bugzilla that is referenced in this thread

Neverwinter nights has also a native client for linux.

Nwn2, oblivion, morrowind and lots of others can be run under wine on linux.

You can also take a look at the winedb:

http://appdb.winehq.org/

Also, take a look at the portage tree, under /usr/portage/games-*/. There are lots of stuff in there.

It depends what genre you're looking for. There are a lot of *NIX games, and even more a lot of open source *NIX games [however, more are closed].

If you can name the genre I'm sure there'll be a lot from it.

And I can personally speak for War3/TFT working well in wine ^.^

From the top of my head before I head off to school:
  • MMO: Regnum Online
    FPS:
    1. Counter-Strike Clone: Assault Cube, enemy territory [+ mods]
    2. Quake-Based: Nexuiz, Tremulous, Quake, Alien [something], and a lot, lot more.
    3. Unreal tournament, Cold War
  • Flight Sim: Flightgears, Gl-117, Thunder&Lightning, and some other game I can't remember the name to :/
  • Stealth: Cold War
Those are all I can remember with corresponding categories that have native *NIX executables that aren't Tetris/Battleship clones and the like.

Everything by the last of the bedroom programmers (DefCon, Uplink, Darwinia + more on the way!)

Also check icculus' site. There's also the classic Transport Tycoon Deluxe via OpenTTD and Eve Online (from what I've heard it basically runs in Wine or a variant there of, but atleast they're marketing it as being linux compatible).

Savage 1 is a great, free, fantasy game that's an combination of an rts and an fps.

www.newerth.com (I don't know if it's in portage, because I am using ubuntu, but you can download the full version from there. Just unzip it, and play)

Oh and it's closed-source, in case anybody cares, I don't

Northland is a fun commercial RTS game with vikings, costs 44$ at www.tuxgames.com.

I can recommend it :D

I'll also take this opportunity to pimp the Freespace 2 SCP - Goto www.hard-light.net now!

I highly recommend some of the TCs (Total Conversions) like Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line, and Babylon 5.
