Banshee - No metadata written | Other way to tag? [solved]

Help with creation, editing, or playback of sounds, images, or video. Amarok, audacious, mplayer, grip, cdparanoia and anything else that makes a sound or plays a video.

Banshee - No metadata written | Other way to tag? [solved]

Hello,
I took the decision to write proper tags for my music files. I 'm looking for an efficient way to do this, as they are way too many (~10k should be edited).

Banshee doesn't write the metadata to the files (I have enabled the option). Any idea why? The music files are mounted through nfs, but that shouldn't make any difference, since I have proper permissions set.
Any idea on how to fix this?

Or perhaps, suggest another tag editor that is capable of tagging files with utf-8.
I 've tried so far and didn't do me the job: audacious, easytag, tagtool, quodlibet (which doesn't even load my library), id3ed (LOL! It taggs but with incomplete attributes).

Thanks in advance :-)

Hey there,

I use EasyTAG (available in portage) and it works fine with UTF-8 Tags (check that you have that selected ID3v2.4 in preferences > ID3Tags)
good luck!

Yeap, EasyTag is the best one. It has very nice functionalities for automatic taging and files processing. Btw. I believe you can set Banshee to write tags (nevertheless this switch doesn't seem to work yet).

Thanks for your replies.
I had tried easytag, but i thought it didn't work, because mplayer i used to test if the tags were applied isn't utf-8 tag-aware.
Thanks.
