Newbe prefixed bootstrap install problem[SOLVED]

Hi all,
I've been following the instructions over here http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-al ... -macos.xml
Mac OS X 10.4.10
I get as far as the first emerge command and then :

$ emerge --oneshot sed

cut - - - -

Something in my local .bash_profile was messing with the install.

your ~/.bash_profile might interfere if you (re)-set PATH in there.
