Gaim/Pidgin

What's the difference between Gaim and Pidgin? I thought they were the same thing, but in Portage Gaim and Pidgin are under 2 different names and I can emerge both of them separately. Why is Gaim still on Portage/unmasked when Pidgin is out?

Pidgin is the new name of Gaim, I remember that the changing of the name was caused by the name "Gaim" look like with "aim" of Orange.

I suggest you tu take Pidgin even if ebuilds are masked.

Because the old versions are still called Gaim, and some people might prefer them.

Does anyone know why my Gaim wants to downgrade to 1.5 this morning?

I've got the package unmasked in keywords file. Are they trying to push me over to the Pidgin side of things?

I've been looking at the same thing because my gaim-1.5.0 refuses to build. It appears that the gaim beta will never be released, so they just back dated it. I'm emerging pidgin now.
