xfce menu items?

Maybe I'm slightly retarded..... Maybe more then slightly......

But I cant for the life of me figure out how to edit Xfce's menu. It has a graphical editor, but it seems that most of the menu entries are in some weird external system menu thingy, which is not editable with xfce's menu editor..... How the hell do I edit it?

The problem is that most of the *.desktop files in /usr/share are --not-- showing up in the menu. I install an application that has a menu item, but for some reason they arent showing up in the damn menu.

Take a look in /usr/share/applications. I think that's the location you want.

That is the problem. The .desktop files are in fact there, but they are not showing up in the menu. In there place they have something called an external menu entry that seems to include all those items. Except that the external menu entry is not editable by the menu editor. My question is, how do I edit, or maybe create a new external menu entry?

If it sounds confusing that's becouse it is confusing. The guys at xfce really need to reconsider how the menu is setup. As is it sucks.

As far as I know there is not something like an external menu in xfce, but that can be too my lack of knowledge of xfce. I edit those .desktop just with an texteditor and they show up in my xfce menu.
