[Compiz-Fusion] No GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap Error

  • Quote

Post by DenisTheinert » Tue Oct 23, 2007 7:16 am

i have a Compiz-Fusion problem which i could need advice i googled and try the solutions in the wiki.
The error message: * No GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap with direct rendering context.

the funny thing about it is that glxinfo tells me DRI is activated and GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is available. I use Xorg with AIGLX.
my xorg.log:
http://rafb.net/p/EPcjWF95.html

glxinfo:
http://rafb.net/p/SeNqAm84.html

Xorg.conf:
http://rafb.net/p/uEr7Mc56.html

I thank for every singel advice in advance.

Apparantly, compiz-fusion defaults to the wrong libGL.so, so you have to force it to use the xorg version:

Code: Select all

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so  compiz-start
- That worked for me anyways ;)

i tried changing the path that compiz uses for libGL.so by editing '/etc/xdg/compiz/compiz-manager' but still nothing... there must be messed up files lying around

yes but somewhere in the endless long emerge output it says that it is unsupported ;)
or maybe i saw it wrong. But everything below version 1.0 and or have a beta/alpha
on it should be unsupported. Maybe when it gets compiz-fusion 1.0 it will be supported.

Or maybe its still unsupported because 3d and Java is still very unstable. ( no open source drivers)
I can remember about the kororaa gpl scandal with the ati and nivida drivers weblink.

first ebuild ever for compiz-fusion was 2 days ago, the same day of the thread. when i moved it, i didn't see the package in the tree. i believe we're not moving any more of these threads, but don't hold me to that. :wink:

cheers

Unfortunatelly both ways (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 and LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so) didn't work for me.
A long search in the internet are without any result, too.

I hope somebody can help me.

Here ist the output of glxinfo
http://nopaste.ch/51ede1c844f125d.html

my xorg.conf
http://nopaste.ch/6239125333a0cf0.html

and Xorg.0.log
http://nopaste.ch/f60dac2725c782d.html

Best regards

Perhaps in addition to LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 try adding the --indirect-rendering flag?

This doesn't work either.

I think compiz knows that it needs to use indirect rendering. On starting fusion-icon it says:

Code: Select all

 * Detected Session: xfce
 * Searching for installed applications...
 * No GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap with direct rendering context
 ... present with indirect rendering, exporting: LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1
 * Using the GTK Interface
 * Xfwm4 is already running
The problem must be somewhere else.
