GNOME and unmount notifications

  • Quote

Post by Mauro » Wed Aug 08, 2007 4:33 pm

Hello! This is my first post in these boards, i just started using Gentoo and Im really enjoying it :)

My question is the following. Is there any way i can see some sort of notification when i unmount my pen-drive? I'm not sure if it happens on Gentoo, but in my Archlinux installation if its writing to the usb drive and I try to unmount it shows me a notification with an error but when its done I see another one that says the drive can be removed safely. Is there any way to get notifications like that on Gentoo both for when it cannot be unmounted and when it was unmounted correctly?

Thank you!

Welcome to Gentoo.

:-)

To get those oh so snappy pop up messages, you can build GNOME with libnotify:

libnotify - Enable notification support

Put libnotify in your USE in /etc/make.conf.

Good luck!
