gnome panel freezes (new to 2.18)

After a while, my GNOME panel (gnome 2.18.0) will freeze and no longer updates graphically. The notification area icons still respond to mouse clicks and update normally (pidgin, power manager, etc) but the clock, window list, foot menu and volume control don't. `killall gnome-panel` works, and it resumes normally for a while until it freezes again. This is a new problem, it never froze when using GNOME 2.16. I'm using beryl/emerald-0.2.1.

Same. I've had this for a while, through several gnome-panel updates (I'm at 2.20 now). The only times I ever noticed this was with the window list, and only while I've been using beryl or compiz-fusion. The window list would be either way out-of-date (showing closed windows or failing to show new ones) or it would just be totally blank.

I'm using metacity right now, and the window list sometimes takes a while to update, but it always seems to catch up eventually.

Please tell me, you all use beryl too?

Tell me also if this matches your case: Booting FailSafe Gnome (thru GDM) works perfectly?

Omg... Now I'm really scared.

I got this problem again, after one week of perfect behavior... I thought it was corruption within my own gentoo\gcc but now more people start having it.

Maybe i'll take some vacations with KDE
Maybe i'll rebuild all my gentoo from scratch.

****.... please, someone enlight us all :)

Cheers

Ok everything works fine since i dont use the Window List applet in the gnome-panel. I tried to use it again, and 1 minutes after i had the freeze. I am confident it's the Window List applet that start the freeze behaviour. I will try to recompile applet package for gnome to see if it changes something.
