One simple question : why the lastest version availible for skype is so old ? The windows version is very different...

Hi,

what do you exactly mean by old? You can unmask skype to get the latest (maybe unstable version) in portage.

The truth is that the latest linux version available is the 1.3.0.53 (on portage AND on the SkyPe website), whereas the most recent windows version is the 3.0. It just seems that SkyPe stopped developping the linux version... ?

In the wiki there is a hint about running SkyPe 2.x through wine : http://gentoo-wiki.com/Skype/Installation

1.3.0.53_API has serious problems, sometimes it consumes all cpu available, sometimes it makes X do so.
maybe it's a problem with certain x11 drivers, I just wanted to warn you about that
