This article on Slashdot gave me a lil chuckle..

When I heard about Libranet 2.8 containing KDE 3.1 and kernel 2.4.20 in our forums, I just about fell out of the chair I was sitting in.

wow kde 3.1 AND kernel 2.4.20?!! wow.. cutting edge! What are the debian people restricted to? Because such cutting edge software sure made this user poo his pants!

And what does Libranet offer that gentoo doesnt?

I used to recommend this distro (the free download) to Linux interested newbies coming from Windows because it is rather well put together and has a good easy installer. The amount of money they charge is ridiculous IMO considering it's basically a re-packaged Debian with a program called adminmenu/xadminmenu. I thought it was funny that I had to apt-get synaptic on a distro specifically designed for new users.

Their website used to be but ugly and for a long time. I find this a turn off when a company is trying to sell me something.

different uses thou isnt it thats more aimed at the newbies but from my experience i got into linux with redhat 8, mandrake put me off for a long time thou. but anyway i think thats abit over the top seen as those "features" are free so what are they actually selling? i can understand if they made some brand new hardware detection software or something but they havnt, have they?
