Would it be possible to make it slotted so that you could have both ff-2.0 and ff3.0alfa installed?

You have dropped the patches, but most of them are essential for the functioning of firefox and programs, which depend on it.
nsplugins, rpath and pkgconfig patches as I think of it are essential - it seems that the nsplugins patch was broken in some of the last months' updates in cvs and I haven't had the time to look at the other

that patch failed to apply cleanly (add I didnt want to assume the fixes had to do with FF3) so I dropped if for the first revision of this ebuild... I will go though the patches later tonight and see what patches i need to get to apply

Have anyone tested it with blackdown-jdk on amd64 (64-bit jav plugin with 64-bit browser)?

Does moving mouse cursor over java aplet still crash firefox?

And another question...

Where can i find the ebuild?
I don't use layman & i don't wanna to checkout whole the SVN repository...

or simply:

Code: Select all

mkdir /usr/local/overlays
cd /usr/local/overlays
svn co http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/mozilla/
vi /etc/make.conf
add /usr/local/overlays/mozilla to your overlays emerge -D mozilla-firefox :)
when you want to update the overlay

Code: Select all

cd /usr/local/overlays/mozilla
svn up
have fun

What is the difference between FF 3.0 and FF 2.0?
I know 3.0 is based on a newer gecko library, but how does it show in the real world.

I am waiting for FF to pass the Acid 2 webstandards test... opera is the only browser that passes it right now... FF3 is almost there, FF2 is worse... IE is terrible

... which means web pages that use improper code will not "break the browser" and display the page weird/wrong

FF 3 alpha1 or later passes the test AFAIK. I know FF 3 does, but which build I don't.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Konqueror pass the test now too?
