mythtv blank after nvidia driver upgrade[SOLVED]

  • Quote

Post by Contraband » Thu Nov 30, 2006 8:03 pm

I upgraded my nvidia driver to 1.0.9629 so I can use AIGLX. Now when I start mythfrontend, I get the background image for one second, then it goes black. If I blindly press return a couple of times to view live tv, the video shows up, complete with OSD. But escaping back to the menu returns to the blank screen. Any thoughts?

I'd rebuild qt-3 first off

Code: Select all

emerge -1a =x11-libs/qt-3*

Do you use qt or opengl for the 'ThemePainter'. If it's opengl, you can either change the painter with mysql on the commandline, or try rebuilding mythtv (ccache is your friend 8) )

Just in case, mysql syntax for changing the ThemePainter,

Code: Select all

mysql -h <hostname> -u mythtv --password=mythtv mythconverg
mysql> update settings set data="qt" where value="ThemePainter" and hostname="<hostname>";
mysql> \q
Then you can get back in and see if it works, if it does either use qt or rebuild it.

Great! Changing the ThemePainter setting to qt fixed it. Thanks.

While switching to qt worked for me as well, I found that re-setting my opengl settings allowed me to go back to opengl mode (which is what I prefer)

Code: Select all

eselect opengl set nvidia
Of course that assumes you're using the nvidia drivers and such.

YMMV
{ NO -U } { STRIP }
