quake3-osp removing from portage?!

got that message while emerging world today. its already masked.
it further says like "use quake3-cpma instead".

so my first thought was: uhm ok, seems like cpma includes ops now so I'm up for it!
but nothing like that was true.

ok so because I didn't play for some months I guessed all osp-servers have shut down by some really strange agreement.
I fired my xqf and and... oh no, 9 am in the morning and at least some osp-servers populated by playing people (around the 3..4 fold of the number playing on the few cpma ones by the way).

so could someone maybe get my out the trouble of understanding that? do we really have far to many good native funny popular games in gentoo, so we have to randomly remove someones very fast as a last resort?

quake3-osp should be unmasked by default.. it's a different mod, and some tourneys - servers still use it

Although it can be argued that CPMA has all the features of OSP, they're different: different player communities, and different feelings when playing the game.
It would be like removing firefox from portage because "konqueror has all the features of firefox"
This comparison is not completely innocent, because just like firefox is more popular than konqueror, the number of OSP servers and players is larger than those of CPMA (and by a significant margin).

Please, keep both in portage. It's not like the OSP ebuild requires a lot of maintenance.
