Is my hardware compatible?

Kernel not recognizing your hardware? Problems with power management or PCMCIA? What hardware is compatible with Gentoo? See here. (Only for kernels supported by Gentoo.)

Hey everyone,

I just put together a new Core 2 Duo PC and I'm thinking about moving back to Gentoo. My questions are:

Is Gigabyte DS3 P Gentoo compatible (audio, sata controllers, ide, etc)?
How are ATI drivers on Linux now? I never owned an ATI and this time I bought an x850xt.

Everything should be compatable, your motherboard (which is actually a GA965P) has a Intel P965 chipset which should be well supported in the kernel

All the ATI drivers work, they have done for years and years, it is only the very old ones that dont. For more information see here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Ati

You might run in to a little trouble with optical units since Intel 965 does not have a native ide controller anymore and uses the SATA bus with a adaptor chip.
It all depends on how well supported that chip is in the kernel you use to install with.
See THIS thread.
