Anyone know how this can be fixed? I've googled and searched the Gentoo forums but nothing they say to try (having right autoconf and whatnot - already emerged the ones it said to one by one) and nothing works! Thanks in advance!

maybe one of these

automake-wrapper
autoconf-wrapper
m4

or try emerge coreutils -eav
to rebuild the tool chain below coreutils
The solutions are easy. Its finding them that is hard.

Thanks a bunch! It's gotten farther along now. Let's see how far I get before I might have to ask for help, but I imagine it's smooth sailing from here.

Ok, now I'm getting this error and I re-emerged the automakes and whatnot and the libtool.

* Applying popt-1.10.4-lib64.patch ... [ ok ]

Is there anything else I can emerge? It's supposed to be something to do with perl. I'll try and compile that too with nodeps and see if that helps. I'm kind of shooting blind here. :P

Can you send/attach the contents of

This is what it said:

***** autoconf *****

configure.ac:119: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GNU_GETTEXT
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
See the Autoconf documentation.

----------
I don't know what that means unless it's simply a flag for when I compile/emerge it. Thanks!

It seems that gettext is missing. Do you have it installed? If not, you can try emerging it. But first try running the following:

Code: Select all

aclocal -I buildlib; autoconf
Athlon XP 2000+ Palomino @ 1.667ghz
Asus A7V333 Revision 1.02 w/ Promise RAID
512mb PC2700-1.5-2-2.0 @ 333mhz

Ok, I emerged gettext and then coreutils. I ran that command before and after installing coreutils and this is what I got both times:

sudo aclocal -I buildlib; autoconf
Password:
aclocal-1.9: `configure.ac' or `configure.in' is required
autoconf-2.59: no input file

I can't find a page referencing the gentoo portage install the way I tried it. I thought I had bookmarked it but it looks like they changed everything. You wouldn't happen to have a link for the old style so I can finish that up, would you? Or is it ok to start from scratch again? Thanks!

Well I meant to run that command in the directory where portage was compiling and you had the error. But after installing gettext, are you able to continue your gentoo-osx setup?

What method did you use to install? I am not really aware of an old style. I guess you can just grab the disk image again, and run the installer from there. It should overwrite the files. You can also read up about it in general on the wiki, including the uninstall instructions.

Yeah, once I installed gettext I was able to install coreutils. I'm going to try the install that's based off bootstrap-darwin.sh standard. From what I read, it installs everything for you. I didn't use the dmg install so hopefully that will work.

Considering that page is over a year old, I think it might be out of date. I would simply use the disk image with the included installer.

Ok, thanks! I'll see how that works. BTW, can you point me to a more recent example of the installation? Is this one a more recent one? I thought the dmg installation was out of date? Thanks again!
