Do you think a failed ebuild forum would be a good idea?

Yes, I would use it.

I'm not sure of what you mean by "failed ebuilds". Doesn't the Bugs Forum cover that?

Not at all, we all have different gentoo setups therefore an ebuild may fail to compile for me but not others, else perhaps someone has experienced the same issue and resolved it.

ie:
AutoBot - I was trying to emerge <foo-package-1.2> but after a couple of minutes it failed with the following message:

Code: Select all

failed ebuild: exit code 22
fghellar - Oh yeah that same thing happened to me, I just changed my blub-blub variable to bla-bla and it emerged fine.

AutoBot - Thx alot that did the trick.
Of course the above could have been posted in several places, but it seems an answer would arise more quickly if "Failed Ebuilds" had a seperate place here on the forums.

I think this is a wonderful idea, I have a situation like that right now where a dependency doesn't compile, and no one I bump into on IRC has an answer or a suggestion...

I think we have quite a few forums right now. If people used ATG for the right purpose, we wouldn't have to worry about slow answers to questions like you presented. The problem is that there are a lot of networking, general linux, etc.. questions that get posted in ATG. I think moving ATG will be a temporary solution at best, but at least it will make kanuslupus happy.
if i never try anything, i never learn anything..
if i never take a risk, i stay where i am..
