Need help!

Hello all! I would ask this question on Transgaming own forums but as many as you know, their support sucks. Well I installed steam just fine and can install any games. The problem I am having is I can only run any source based game at a screen res of 800x! Every time I go to change the screen res to my native res of 1280x1024 or anything higher than 800x the screen just goes black =/.

Specs:
Xorg 7.0
Nvidia 6800GT
AMD 3500+
2GB of ram
Cedega 5.2.3
Nvidia drivers 8762
Viewsonic VX924 19inch LCD native res of 1280x1024
