I'm emerging mplayer as we speak, but that's about as useful as t**s on a boar hog without the codecs.

win32codecs is currently masked.

Any suggestions?

unmask them
“Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good and just and beautiful.”

Hoodwink, such a hint of negativity in all these threads with any mention of a masked package, it will be OK.

my hint: dont do 64bit, I was fine till I got to 4-5 programs that would not compile even if I asked nicely and beat them with a hammer.
My Systems - "I suggest the whole thing be coded in whitespace. Henceforth the code will be obscure and functional at the same time."

amd64 is just fine. Emerge mplayer-bin and win32codecs, it'll work.
