No internet on installing

Hi, I want to install Gentoo in my Laptop. I have running Suse 10.1 already, but I'm really interested in Gentoo.
When I try to install using the LiveCD 2006, I can't finish the process, the last message that I get (and the first one) is the "root password changed"
Then stops.
I think that is because the internet is not working. I have an Intel Centrino, and my only access to the internet is a WIFI connection by a Ralink card. In Suse I use the driver ra2500. The wifi connection is not protected.
Well, I really want to install Gentoo, so, It would be great if someone could help me.
I'm looking forward to see Gentoo working in my laptop

that is not really an answer to your livecd problem.
but if you're really interested in gentoo i'd recommend the AllTheFun (tm) traditional way: stick to the handbook and do it by hand.

I wish I could, if I haven't tried before is because I couldn't print the manual. I have no printer, and all the printers that I can access (Ciber-Cafes) are just rubbish, the managers think that I'm stupid and once, they told me that I couldn't print a webpage because maybe I wasn't registered in it. I was so surprised that I just left. The quality is so bad that I can't even read.

So, I have to try this way.

Maybe is not because of the network, but the installation stops even before it starts. Although I need the wifi connection.

what i actually ment was 'the following ain't an answer to your problem', i didn't comment on your post but on mine

you can access the handbook during installation -- it's on the cd (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/h ... chap_pre12).

There is no way to get it.
I've tried that and with Dialog, and the only thing I see is:
"Starting Installation"
I'll ask in the irc if nobody here knows.

I had this issue, what I did was I put any old random IP under "static ip" when the installation asks me. (Of course you must choose stage3/GRP) to complete the installation though.

Thank you siccness, I have done that already, but now there is another problem.
Suddenly, the installation fails. The error is something with /dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.20
Anyway, the error is after installing GRUB so I have access to the system, but just a command line. Now, what I want, is to install the rt2500 drivers to enable the internet connection. When I try it it says that are masqueraded, and the file "/etc/portage/package.unmask" doesn't exist, either package.mask. Maybe because the installation stopped before planned.
Without the driver I have no internet so I can't carry on installing software.
What can I do?

is ther error before or after the system install?
if it is after then you can just build the kernel again with the ra2500 driver in it.
where it is exactly, I am not sure, it should be somewhere under Device Drivers -> Network Device Support

But is it in the LiveCD? And if it's marked as masqueraded and there is no file "/etc/portage/package.unmask" how can I do it?
The error is just after installing Grub, Just before start installing KDE. I think so.
I have no idea what to do.

can you atleast post the error wor for word, it might help.

if it is saying something about being masked, then you should add it to /etc/portage/package.unmask like this

Well, now, I modified the make.conf file and add ACCEPT-KEYWORDS="~x86"
I can start the emerging but of course it fails trying to download the Linux Kernel, because I have no internet connection.
So, now it's a hard problem to solve. I need the internet to be able to use the internet....

I hope I could get it some day. I need Gentoo!!!!!
