portage wants to emerge qt4, but it always ends by the following :

Please post an emerge --info
Unix is simple. It just takes a genius to understand its simplicity.

i'm at work right now, so i'm not able to post my emerge --info for the next few hours.
but i can give you the following info :

my comp is x86, i use portage 2.0.54 with gcc 3.4.6 (?). i use conservative cflags, -fvisibility-inlines-hidden cxxflag, and --as-needed ldflag. i use -Os, not -O2. my config is quite different from srz's one. but same problem happens, and, in my case, is reproductible.

because the error i reported mentions sqlite, and i don't have sqlite installed, i started to emerge sqlite before i left home. i'll see if this helps when i'll get back.

in the meantime, any suggestion is welcome.

because the above error concerned sqlite stuff, i decided to compile qt4 WITHOUT sqlite support (sqlite removed from USE flags).
now compilation goes further but ends in a similar way :

Code: Select all

what the heck am i missing here ??

Now it works! From bugzilla:
Upgrade eselect-opengl to 1.0.3 if you haven't done so yet, and run 'eselect
opengl set xorg-x11' (or nvidia or ati or whatever else you are using). Not a
QT bug.

i should try that, but my issue is not related to opengl, so i don't think upgrading eselect-opengl would help at all here. i'll try anyway.

my system is x86 not AMD64, and i believe the error i'm getting is somewhat different of that mentioned in the bug report.

to be continued...

I'm getting this error as well (I have an amd64) and I tried the eselect but that did not work.

I found out that my problem was due to having package.keywords contain (~amd64) entries for eselect & eselect-opengl. Once i removed those and (re)emerged them, i was able to execute the eselect command and emerge qt without any problems.
