No High Scores

  • Quote

Post by the_gummibear » Wed May 24, 2006 8:49 am

I can't acces the 'high scores' in the default gnome-games.

It's not asking for a name after I finished a game & the 'high score'-button in the menu is grayed-out & thus unclickable.

Any idea how to solve this?

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think you have to be in the games group.

Code: Select all

gpasswd -a <user> games
Any help?

Nothing besides permission problems springs to my mind when reading your description. You are in the games group, so next I would check that the permissions of the game executables and the high score files (and directory) are not b0rked. Mine look like this (I'll take gnomine as an example)

Code: Select all

-r-xr-s--x 1 root games 82848 Mar 21 20:19 /usr/bin/gnomine
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 24 13:45 /var/lib/games
-rw-rw-r-- 1 games games 253 May 28 19:12 /var/lib/games/gnomine.Small.scores
Due to the executable's SGID bit I can actually make it to high scores with users not in the games group.

There was also some talk in the forums about "unknown" being displayed instead of your name in high scores, but it doesn't sound like your problem?
